    Ingredients

    • 1 package active dry yeast

    • 1 cup warm water

    • 1.5 tablespoons sugar

    • 2.5 cup all-purpose flour

    • 1 teaspoon salt

    • 2 tablespoons butter

    • 1 tablespoon baking soda

    • 8 cup water

    • 1 large egg

    • 1 tablespoon coarse salt

    Directions

    • In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let stand until creamy, about 10 minutes.
    • Stir in sugar, flour, and salt until a dough begins to form. Knead the dough until smooth and elastic.
    • Transfer dough to a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.
    • Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper or lightly grease them.
    • In a large saucepan, bring water and baking soda to a boil, then reduce to a simmer.
    • Divide dough into small pieces, shaping each into pretzel bites, about 1 inch in size.
    • Dip each pretzel bite into the simmering baking soda water for about 30 seconds, then remove with a slotted spoon.
    • Place pretzel bites onto prepared baking sheets, ensuring they are well spaced.
    • Beat the egg with 1 tablespoon of water to create an egg wash and brush over each pretzel bite.
    • Sprinkle with coarse salt and bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.
