Healthy Fact of the Day

Bell peppers are packed with vitamin C and antioxidants, while lean beef provides high-quality protein and iron. Stir-frying preserves the vegetables' nutrients and natural crunch for a balanced, nutritious meal.

This Chinese Pepper Steak delivers restaurant-quality flavors right in your own kitchen with tender beef strips and vibrant bell peppers in a savory, umami-rich sauce. The key is cooking the beef in batches to get that perfect sear, then combining everything for a quick stir-fry that keeps the vegetables crisp and the beef juicy. It’s a colorful, satisfying meal that comes together in under 30 minutes.

    Ingredients

    • 1 pound beef sirloin

    • 1/4 cup soy sauce

    • 2 tablespoons cornstarch

    • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

    • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil

    • 2 large bell peppers, sliced

    • 1 medium onion, sliced

    • 3 cloves garlic, minced

    • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced

    • 1/4 cup beef broth

    • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce

    • 1 tablespoon sugar

    • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

    Directions

    • Slice the beef sirloin into thin strips and place it into a bowl. Add soy sauce, cornstarch, and black pepper, then mix well to coat the beef.
    • Heat a tablespoon of oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add half of the beef slices to the pan, cooking until browned.
    • Remove the cooked beef from the pan and set it aside. Repeat with the remaining beef, then remove and set aside.
    • In the same pan, add another tablespoon of oil. Add bell peppers and onion, stir-frying until they begin to soften.
    • Stir in minced garlic and ginger, cooking for about a minute until fragrant. Add beef back to the pan and mix well.
    • Combine beef broth, oyster sauce, and sugar in a small bowl. Pour this mixture over the beef and vegetables.
    • Continue stirring for a few minutes until the sauce thickens slightly. Drizzle with sesame oil and mix to combine.
    • Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal.

    Tip of the Day

“Always let your meat rest before slicing.”

Whether you're roasting a chicken, grilling steak, or baking pork tenderloin, letting cooked meat rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing allows the juices to redistribute evenly. This simple step keeps your meat juicy and tender, ensuring every bite is flavorful and moist. Bonus: It gives you a moment to plate your sides or garnish for a perfect presentation!
