American Flag Layered Taco Dip

American Flag Layered Taco Dip

Healthy Fact of the Day

Black olives provide healthy monounsaturated fats and vitamin E, while fresh lettuce and tomatoes add fiber and vitamins. This dip offers protein from beans and cheese, making it more nutritious than typical party appetizers.

This American Flag Layered Taco Dip transforms classic seven-layer dip into a stunning patriotic centerpiece that’s perfect for Fourth of July parties, Memorial Day gatherings, or any celebration. The layers are strategically arranged to mimic the American flag, with refried beans and seasoned sour cream forming the base, while red tomatoes create stripes and black olives represent the star field. It’s not just visually impressive—every bite delivers that perfect combination of creamy, crunchy, and zesty flavors that makes layered dips so irresistible.

    • 2 cups sour cream

    • 1.25 oz taco seasoning mix

    • 3 cups shredded cheddar cheese

    • 2 cups shredded lettuce

    • 1.5 cups diced tomatoes

    • 1 cup sliced black olives

    • 1 small jalapeno, sliced

    • 1 cup chunky salsa

    Directions

    • Spread the refried beans evenly at the bottom of a 13×9-inch baking dish to form the base layer.
    • In a medium bowl, mix the sour cream with the taco seasoning until fully combined.
    • Spread the sour cream mixture over the refried beans in an even layer for the second layer.
    • Sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar cheese evenly on top of the sour cream mixture.
    • Scatter the shredded lettuce over the cheese, creating a fresh and crunchy layer.
    • Add the diced tomatoes over the lettuce, placing them in the arrangement of red stripes for the flag.
    • Place the sliced black olives in the top left corner to represent the star field of the American flag.
    • Layer the remaining shredded cheese over the diced tomatoes to complete the red and white stripes.
    • Arrange sliced jalapenos carefully within the black olive section as decorative stars.
    • Finish by gently spooning salsa into the empty spaces around the edges. Chill in the refrigerator for an hour before serving.

    Tip of the Day

“Always let your meat rest before slicing.”

Whether you're roasting a chicken, grilling steak, or baking pork tenderloin, letting cooked meat rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing allows the juices to redistribute evenly. This simple step keeps your meat juicy and tender, ensuring every bite is flavorful and moist. Bonus: It gives you a moment to plate your sides or garnish for a perfect presentation!
