    Ingredients

    • 1 pound ground beef

    • 1 cup chopped onion

    • 1 cup chopped green bell pepper

    • 2 cloves garlic, minced

    • 15 ounce can tomato sauce

    • 1/4 cup ketchup

    • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

    • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

    • 1 teaspoon chili powder

    • 1/2 teaspoon salt

    • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

    • 3 cups cooked pasta

    • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

    Directions

    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a large baking dish by lightly greasing it.
    • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef until browned, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks.
    • Add chopped onion, green bell pepper, and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef and sauté until vegetables are soft.
    • Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, chili powder, salt, and black pepper, mixing well.
    • Allow the mixture to simmer for about 5 minutes so the flavors can meld together nicely.
    • Add the cooked pasta to the skillet, stirring to combine all ingredients evenly and ensure the pasta is coated.
    • Transfer the beef and pasta mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly across the bottom.
    • Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the mixture to cover it completely.
    • Bake the casserole in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
    • Allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes before serving, to give the flavors time to settle.

    Tip of the Day

“Always let your meat rest before slicing.”

Whether you're roasting a chicken, grilling steak, or baking pork tenderloin, letting cooked meat rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing allows the juices to redistribute evenly. This simple step keeps your meat juicy and tender, ensuring every bite is flavorful and moist. Bonus: It gives you a moment to plate your sides or garnish for a perfect presentation!

Baja Blast Just Got a Glass Bottle — And the Recipe Is Different Too

Baja Blast made with real cane sugar is still a soda — but the switch from high-fructose corn syrup to cane sugar is a meaningful ingredient change worth understanding. Cane sugar is processed more naturally than HFCS and has a cleaner flavor profile, though both contribute similar amounts of added sugar per serving. If you’re a fan who wants to try the new version, enjoying one as an occasional treat rather than a daily drink is the smart approach. And if the glass bottle format has you thinking about reducing your everyday soda consumption, sparkling water with a squeeze of lime and a few mint leaves captures some of that citrus refreshment without the added sugar.

The Tomato in Every Form: A Summer Obsession

Lycopene — the carotenoid responsible for the tomato’s red color and one of the most studied dietary antioxidants — is significantly more bioavailable from cooked tomatoes than from raw ones. Cooking breaks down the cell walls that contain lycopene molecules, releasing them into a form the body can absorb more effectively. Cooking with oil further enhances absorption, since lycopene is fat-soluble. Research has associated high lycopene intake with reduced risk of certain cancers, improved cardiovascular markers, and protection against UV-related skin damage. The summer habit of cooking tomatoes in olive oil — in sauces, in braises, in roasted preparations — is, nutritionally, one of the most beneficial cooking habits available in any season.
