    Ingredients

    • 2 cups all-purpose flour

    • 1 tbsp baking powder

    • 0.5 tsp salt

    • 0.5 cup unsalted butter

    • 0.75 cup milk

    • 0.5 lb chorizo sausage

    • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour

    • 2 cups milk

    • 0.5 tsp black pepper

    • 0.25 tsp salt

    Directions

    • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Begin making the biscuits by mixing the flour, baking powder, and salt together in a bowl.
    • Cut the butter into the flour mixture using a pastry cutter or forks until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
    • Stir in the milk gradually until a dough forms. Turn the dough onto a floured surface, knead gently, then roll out to about 1/2 inch thickness.
    • Use a round cutter to cut out biscuits and place them on a baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
    • While the biscuits are baking, cook the chorizo in a large skillet over medium heat until browned, breaking it up as it cooks.
    • Remove the cooked chorizo from the skillet and set aside. Leave about 2 tablespoons of drippings in the skillet.
    • Stir in the flour into the drippings over medium heat and cook for about 1 minute to form a roux.
    • Gradually whisk in the milk, continuously stirring to prevent lumps, and cook until the mixture thickens like gravy.
    • Return the cooked chorizo to the skillet, season with black pepper and salt, and stir to combine the flavors.
    • Serve the hot chorizo gravy over the freshly baked biscuits, and enjoy!

    Tip of the Day

“Always let your meat rest before slicing.”

Whether you're roasting a chicken, grilling steak, or baking pork tenderloin, letting cooked meat rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing allows the juices to redistribute evenly. This simple step keeps your meat juicy and tender, ensuring every bite is flavorful and moist. Bonus: It gives you a moment to plate your sides or garnish for a perfect presentation!

How to Shop Like You Actually Know What You’re Looking For

Produce consumed closer to harvest contains significantly higher concentrations of heat-sensitive vitamins — particularly vitamin C and folate — than produce that has been stored for extended periods. Studies on spinach, for example, have found vitamin C losses of up to 50 percent after just a week of refrigerated storage. Shopping more frequently for smaller quantities of fresh produce is one of the most straightforward ways to increase the nutritional value of home-cooked meals without changing a single recipe.

Check Your Pantry and Freezer: Three More Recalls Tied to the Same Salmonella Supplier

When a supplier-level recall like this one unfolds across multiple brands, it’s a strong reminder that food safety isn’t just about individual products — it’s about the entire ingredient chain. A practical habit: keep a photo on your phone of the lot codes on frequently purchased pantry staples and freezer items so you can quickly cross-reference them against recall announcements without digging through cabinets. Bookmarking the FDA and USDA recall pages and checking them weekly takes less than a minute and can prevent a serious illness.
