Cajun Butter Bourbon Steak

Cajun Butter Bourbon Steak

Healthy Fact of the Day

Portobello mushrooms are low in calories but high in potassium, selenium, and B vitamins. They provide a meaty texture and umami flavor while being naturally gluten-free and keto-friendly.

Cajun Butter Bourbon Steak brings bold, smoky flavors to your dinner table with perfectly seared beef glazed in a rich bourbon butter sauce. The Cajun seasoning adds a spicy kick while the bourbon creates a deep, complex flavor that caramelizes beautifully in the pan. This restaurant-quality dish comes together in minutes but delivers maximum impact. Pair with a full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon or bold Malbec to stand up to the intense flavors, or choose a spicy Zinfandel whose peppery notes complement the Cajun seasoning perfectly.

Complete this steakhouse-inspired meal with French Onion Potatoes for a rich, cheesy side that matches the steak’s indulgent nature. Add Garlic Butter Pan Seared Pork Chops for another protein option that shares similar buttery, garlic-forward flavors, or serve alongside Savory Garlic Butter Ribeye for a feast that celebrates bold, meaty flavors.

    Ingredients

    • 4 pieces steak

    • 0.5 cup bourbon

    • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning

    • 2 tablespoons butter

    • 1 tablespoon olive oil

    • 3/4 teaspoon black pepper

    • 2 teaspoons salt

    • 3 cloves garlic

    Directions

    • Pat dry the steak pieces with paper towels and season generously with salt and Cajun seasoning on both sides.
    • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the steaks and sear for 3-4 minutes per side.
    • Reduce heat to medium and add butter, swirling to coat the pan. Add crushed garlic cloves and sauté until fragrant.
    • Pour the bourbon into the skillet carefully, allowing it to cook off the alcohol and infuse the steaks with flavor.
    • Baste the steaks with the butter and bourbon mixture for an additional 2 minutes until cooked to desired doneness.
    • Remove the steaks from the skillet, let them rest for 5 minutes on a plate before serving to retain juices.

    Tip of the Day

“Always let your meat rest before slicing.”

Whether you're roasting a chicken, grilling steak, or baking pork tenderloin, letting cooked meat rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing allows the juices to redistribute evenly. This simple step keeps your meat juicy and tender, ensuring every bite is flavorful and moist. Bonus: It gives you a moment to plate your sides or garnish for a perfect presentation!
