Taco Bell Quietly Brought Back 5 Fan Favorites — And There Are $1 Deals Today Too

Healthy Fact of the Day

The Fan Favorites Menu leans heavy — the Chili Cheese Fries and Grande Nachos in particular are high in sodium and saturated fat. If you're building an order around the test menu, the Chipotle Chicken Loaded Griller is the lightest option of the five, delivering protein and flavor in a smaller, more portion-controlled format than the nachos or fries. For tomorrow's $1 Tuesday deals, the Meximelt is a reasonable fast food choice — beef, pico de gallo, and cheese in a single tortilla at under 300 calories. Pairing it with water and skipping an additional side keeps the overall meal manageable.

Taco Bell has been busy.

At the end of July, the chain quietly launched a new Fan Favorites Menu test in select markets, bringing back five beloved discontinued items — some of which fans have been requesting for years. There’s a catch: the test is only available in parts of the Midwest for now. But today, August 4, Taco Bell is offering two $1 deals available to everyone nationwide as part of its Tuesday Drop.

The Fan Favorites Menu: What’s Back

Chipotle Chicken Loaded Griller — Discontinued in 2019, this one has a devoted following. Chicken, creamy chipotle sauce, and sour cream wrapped in a grilled flour tortilla. Simple, satisfying, and one of the more requested returns in Taco Bell fan communities.

Chili Cheese Burrito — Savory chili and cheddar cheese stuffed into a burrito. A Taco Bell classic that Taco Bell tested earlier this year in Louisville before adding to this broader Fan Favorites rollout.

Chili Cheese Fries — Nacho Fries layered with nacho cheese sauce, chili, and shredded cheddar. The loaded fry version of the Chili Cheese format, and arguably the most indulgent item on the Fan Favorites Menu.

Quesarito — One of Taco Bell’s most-requested menu items of all time, according to the chain itself. A burrito filled with beef, rice, chipotle sauce, and sour cream, wrapped in a quesadilla made with melted cheese and nacho cheese sauce. It returned briefly during the holidays last year — this test is another shot at it.

Grande Nachos — Despite only launching in 2025, these nachos earned a quick spot on the Fan Favorites list. Tortilla chips piled with twice the seasoned beef of the Nachos BellGrande, refried beans, nacho cheese sauce, three-cheese blend, pico de gallo, sour cream, and guacamole.

The Catch

The Fan Favorites Menu is currently only available at select Taco Bell locations in parts of the Midwest. Check the Taco Bell app or contact your local restaurant to see if it’s available near you. If the test performs well, a broader rollout — possibly permanent — could follow.

Today’s $1 Deals — Available Nationwide

If you’re not in a Fan Favorites test market, Taco Bell has a consolation prize today as part of its Tuesday Drop:

  • $1 Meximelt — Available to all customers
  • $1 Nacho Fries — Available to Taco Bell Rewards members all day

The Meximelt — a warm flour tortilla filled with seasoned beef, pico de gallo, and three-cheese blend — is a Taco Bell staple that’s worth the $1 on its own terms. Nacho Fries need no introduction.

The Bottom Line

Taco Bell’s Fan Favorites Menu — Chipotle Chicken Loaded Griller, Chili Cheese Burrito, Chili Cheese Fries, Quesarito, and Grande Nachos — is live now in select Midwest markets. Check your app to see if your location is included. And regardless of where you are, the $1 Meximelt and $1 Nacho Fries Tuesday Drop are live today.

Tip of the Day

“Always let your meat rest before slicing.”

Whether you're roasting a chicken, grilling steak, or baking pork tenderloin, letting cooked meat rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing allows the juices to redistribute evenly. This simple step keeps your meat juicy and tender, ensuring every bite is flavorful and moist. Bonus: It gives you a moment to plate your sides or garnish for a perfect presentation!

Chick-fil-A Just Launched a Chicken and Waffles Sandwich — Plus Two S’mores Drinks

Sandwiches that combine fried protein, syrup, and butter-based spreads can add up quickly in calories and added sugar, especially when paired with a milkshake-style drink. If you’re ordering something like a chicken and waffles sandwich, consider going light on the syrup, choosing the grilled filet option instead of fried, or splitting a dessert drink with someone else at the table. Pairing a heavier meal with water instead of a second sugary beverage is also an easy way to keep things balanced.

Crispy Garlic Parmeson Pork Tenderloin

Pork tenderloin is one of the leanest cuts of meat, comparable to skinless chicken breast in fat content—use part-skim Parmesan and reduce olive oil slightly for an even lighter version without sacrificing that gorgeous golden crust.

The Whole Fish: Why Cooking It on the Bone Changes Everything

Fish cooked on the bone retains slightly higher concentrations of omega-3 fatty acids than fish that has been filleted and stored before cooking — because the fat in the flesh adjacent to the bone is protected from oxidation by the bone itself during the period between filleting and cooking. Whole fish also provides the specific opportunity to consume the collar and the cheek — the two portions most consistently identified by fish-eating cultures worldwide as the most flavorful and most fatty, and therefore the most omega-3-rich, parts of the fish.
