Taco Bell Just Brought Back Four Menu Items From a Decade Ago

Healthy Fact of the Day

Throwback fast food items are often designed around bold, indulgent flavor combinations, which can mean higher sodium, fat, and calorie counts than a standard menu item. If you're working through a nostalgia menu, consider splitting a combo box with someone else, choosing one indulgent item per visit rather than sampling everything at once, and pairing a heavier item like a burrito or empanada with water instead of a sugary fountain drink to help balance out the meal.

Nostalgia is having a moment in fast food right now, and Taco Bell just leaned all the way into it.

The chain has launched a new “Decades” throwback menu, bringing back four items that were on menus a full ten years ago, giving longtime fans a chance to relive 2016 one bite at a time.

What Made the Comeback

The lineup includes the Naked Chicken Chalupa, a crispy fried chicken shell filled with shredded cheddar, lettuce, diced tomatoes, and Avocado Ranch Sauce. It’s priced at a suggested $5.99, and also shows up bundled into a $9 Discovery Luxe Box alongside a Cheesy Bean and Rice Burrito, Crunchy Taco, Chips & Nacho Cheese, and a medium fountain drink.

Also back is the Meximelt, a folded flour tortilla filled with seasoned ground beef, pico de gallo, and a melted three-cheese blend, at a suggested $2.99.

Rounding out the savory side is the Beefy Crunch Burrito, which combines seasoned ground beef, Flamin’ Hot Fritos, seasoned rice, reduced-fat sour cream, and nacho cheese sauce, all wrapped in a flour tortilla for a suggested $2.79.

For dessert, the throwback menu also brings back the Caramel Apple Empanada, a deep-fried pastry pocket filled with warm apple pieces and caramel, priced at a suggested $2.99.

Why This Menu Matters

Each of these items has its own history on Taco Bell’s menu. Some were once permanent fixtures before being phased out, while others were limited-time offerings that built a cult following during their original run. Bringing all four back at once gives fans a reason to revisit old favorites they may not have expected to see again.

Where and When to Get It

All four items are available now at participating Taco Bell locations nationwide for a limited time, so it’s worth checking with your local spot before the throwback menu disappears again.

The Takeaway

Whether you’re chasing a specific childhood favorite or just curious what fast food looked like a decade ago, Taco Bell’s Decades menu offers a quick trip back in time — no time machine required.

Tip of the Day

“Always let your meat rest before slicing.”

Whether you're roasting a chicken, grilling steak, or baking pork tenderloin, letting cooked meat rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing allows the juices to redistribute evenly. This simple step keeps your meat juicy and tender, ensuring every bite is flavorful and moist. Bonus: It gives you a moment to plate your sides or garnish for a perfect presentation!

Little Caesars’ Fan-Favorite Personal Pizza Deal Is Back

A pizza-and-bread combo can pack in a fair amount of refined carbs and sodium in one sitting, especially with dipping sauce added on top. To round things out, consider pairing the combo with a side salad or a piece of fruit to add some fiber, and going easy on the dipping sauce rather than using the full portion with every bite.

Cantonese BBQ Brisket Is Back at Panda Express After Selling Out Earlier This Summer

Pairing a high-protein entrée with the right sides can help round out a more balanced meal. Consider choosing a vegetable-based side like mixed veggies instead of fried rice or chow mein to add fiber without extra refined carbs, and opting for a bowl over a plate if you’re looking to manage overall portion size while still getting the full protein benefit of the entrée.

Wendy’s Halloween Kids’ Meal Is Back — And Adults Are Ordering It Too

Kids’ meals are portioned smaller than adult entrées, which can actually make them a reasonable option for a lighter meal or a snack-sized treat. To keep things balanced, consider pairing the meal with a side of apple bites instead of fries, choosing a lower-sugar beverage like milk or water over a fountain drink, and treating the Frosty as a dessert to enjoy on its own rather than adding it on top of a larger meal.
