Red Lobster’s Endless Shrimp Is Back — The Same Deal the CEO Said Wouldn’t Return

Healthy Fact of the Day

All-you-can-eat promotions can be a great value, but it's easy to overdo it when the food keeps coming. Shrimp is actually one of the leanest proteins you can order — low in calories and high in protein — so leaning toward preparations like the Garlic Shrimp Scampi or the new Marry Me Shrimp over heavily breaded options like Walt's Favorite is a smart way to enjoy the deal without the heaviness. Slowing down between rounds and drinking water throughout the meal also helps you tune into your hunger cues before ordering more.

Less than a year ago, Red Lobster’s CEO said Endless Shrimp wouldn’t be part of the chain’s next chapter.

Then customers kept asking. And asking. And Red Lobster listened.

Endless Shrimp officially returned to participating Red Lobster locations yesterday, April 20, for a limited time — dine-in only. The promotion, which has a 20-year legacy with the brand but was widely cited as a contributing factor in Red Lobster’s 2024 bankruptcy filing, is back with five options: four fan favorites and one brand-new dish inspired by a viral internet sensation.

The Backstory: How Endless Shrimp Sent Red Lobster Into Bankruptcy

To understand why this comeback is notable, it helps to understand what happened the last time around.

When Endless Shrimp went from a seasonal promotion to a permanent menu item in 2023, the response was bigger than Red Lobster anticipated — but not in the way the chain hoped. The deal drew record customer traffic, but the sheer volume of shrimp being consumed far outpaced what the company had priced into the promotion. The result was an $11 million operational loss in just over three months.

Red Lobster’s financial troubles were more complex than one promotion, but Endless Shrimp became a symbol of the chain’s struggles. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2024, closed 130 restaurants, sold to a new ownership group, and brought in a new CEO, Damola Adamolekun, who set about trying to stabilize and rebuild the brand.

When asked about Endless Shrimp last July, Adamolekun said it wouldn’t be coming back. The customer demand clearly changed his mind.

“Endless Shrimp has been a part of Red Lobster’s legacy for 20 years and our guests have never stopped asking for it,” the CEO said in this week’s announcement. “This is about putting our guests first and bringing back something they truly love.”

What’s on the Menu

This time, Endless Shrimp launches with five options. Guests pick two to start, then can order more one dish at a time — all dine-in, all unlimited, all served with a choice of side.

NEW — Marry Me Shrimp: Red Lobster’s take on the viral internet recipe that’s dominated home cooking content for the past two years. The dish features tender shrimp in a tomato cream sauce, topped with a garlic and herb crumble. It’s the first new addition to the Endless Shrimp lineup and a smart way to tie the promotion’s return to a current culinary moment.

Shrimp Linguini Alfredo: Tender shrimp tossed with creamy Alfredo sauce over linguini — one of the most consistently ordered items on the Endless Shrimp menu historically.

Walt’s Favorite Shrimp: Hand-breaded, butterflied shrimp lightly fried and served with cocktail sauce. A classic for a reason.

Garlic Shrimp Scampi: Shrimp sautéed in a garlic and lemon butter sauce. Simple, reliable, and the kind of dish that holds up through multiple rounds.

Parrot Isle Coconut Shrimp: Hand-breaded jumbo coconut shrimp with a piña colada dipping sauce — the most playful option on the menu and consistently one of the most popular.

What It Costs This Time

Pricing has gone up since the last time Endless Shrimp appeared on menus. Most participating locations are charging $25 per person for the promotion, with some markets reporting prices as high as $29.99. In 2024, the promotion was priced at $20. The increase is almost certainly a direct response to the financial losses of the 2023 run.

Is This Sustainable?

That’s the question hovering over the announcement.

Red Lobster has been working to improve its financials since emerging from bankruptcy, with the CEO acknowledging the chain has seen improving sales but has still struggled to turn a profit. Bringing back Endless Shrimp — this time as a limited-time promotion rather than a permanent fixture — suggests the company believes it can manage the promotion without the same operational losses, particularly with a higher price point and a defined end date rather than open-ended availability.

The Bottom Line

Endless Shrimp is available at participating Red Lobster locations now, for dine-in only. The five-dish lineup includes four returning fan favorites and the new Marry Me Shrimp. No end date has been announced, but the promotion is explicitly limited time — so if you’ve been waiting for this one, now is the moment.

Tip of the Day

“Always let your meat rest before slicing.”

Whether you're roasting a chicken, grilling steak, or baking pork tenderloin, letting cooked meat rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing allows the juices to redistribute evenly. This simple step keeps your meat juicy and tender, ensuring every bite is flavorful and moist. Bonus: It gives you a moment to plate your sides or garnish for a perfect presentation!

The Last Thing on the Plate: A Love Letter to Dessert

Dark chocolate — one of the most universally beloved dessert ingredients — contains significant concentrations of flavanols, a class of antioxidant compounds that have been associated with improved cardiovascular health, reduced blood pressure, and enhanced cognitive function in multiple clinical studies. The flavanol content of dark chocolate is inversely related to processing — less processed, higher cacao percentage chocolate retains more of the compounds present in the raw cacao bean. A small serving of genuinely high-quality dark chocolate (70 percent cacao or higher) consumed as part of a balanced diet is one of the more evidence-supported dietary indulgences available — making dessert, at its best, both a pleasure and a health practice simultaneously.

Starbucks Just Dropped Two New Blue Drinks — And Every Purchase Helps Fund Clean Water

The Blue Coconut Refresher is one of the lighter options on the Starbucks summer menu at just 110 calories and 50mg of caffeine for a Grande — a reasonable afternoon pick-me-up without a heavy sugar load. The Iced Blue Coconut Matcha is more indulgent at 310 calories, largely due to the cream-based cold foam, but it also delivers 9 grams of protein from the milk components. If you want the matcha flavor with fewer calories, ask for light cold foam or swap to oat milk. And the blue spirulina used to color both drinks is a naturally derived pigment from algae — a genuinely cleaner alternative to the artificial dyes used in many other brightly colored Starbucks seasonal offerings.
