McDonald’s Is Launching Two New World Cup Meals — Including a Squishmallows Happy Meal That’s Already Causing a Frenzy

Healthy Fact of the Day

If you're planning a World Cup watch party at McDonald's or ordering in, the 10-piece Chicken McNuggets is one of the leaner protein options in the adult meal — lower in saturated fat than the Big Mac while still delivering a satisfying portion. For the kids' Happy Meal, the 4-count McNuggets with apple slices instead of fries is a natural swap that keeps the meal more balanced without any noticeable disappointment. And if you're ordering multiple times this month to chase the collectibles, spacing out the visits keeps the overall fast food intake in check.

McDonald’s is going all in on the 2026 FIFA World Cup — and the collectibles alone are going to drive people to the drive-thru.

Two new limited-time meals are dropping at participating U.S. locations this month: the FIFA World Cup 26 adult meal on June 4, and the FIFA World Cup 26 Squishmallows Happy Meal on June 9. Both are built around the tournament kicking off June 11, and both come with collectibles that have serious resale potential based on the last time McDonald’s and Squishmallows teamed up.

The FIFA World Cup 26 Adult Meal — Starting June 4

The adult meal follows the format McDonald’s has used for its previous limited-edition collaborations. It includes a choice of entrée, a side, and one of nine collectible cups featuring soccer legends.

At breakfast: Choice of Sausage McMuffin with Egg or Sausage Biscuit with Egg, plus a Hash Brown.

At lunch or dinner: Choice of a Big Mac or 10-piece Chicken McNuggets.

The meal also includes the return of Big Mac Sauce dip cups — available for the first time since 2023, packaged in a special gold cup, and only available while supplies last. If the Big Mac Sauce cups go anywhere near as fast as they did in 2023, that “while supplies last” language deserves to be taken seriously.

The Nine Collectible Cups

Each adult meal includes one of nine cups featuring soccer icons across eras and countries:

Christian Pulisic, David Beckham, Ronaldinho Gaucho, Thierry Henry, Son Heung-Min, Lamine Yamal, Alphonso Davies, Santiago Gimenez, and Grimace — who, in true McDonald’s fashion, gets a spot alongside actual legends of the sport.

The Squishmallows Happy Meal — Starting June 9

The Squishmallows Happy Meal is the one generating the most early buzz — and if the last Squishmallows Happy Meal is any indication, some of these toys are going to sell out fast and show up on resale platforms at significantly marked-up prices.

When McDonald’s brought back its Squishmallows Happy Meal collaboration last year, demand became so strong that toys quickly appeared on eBay at notable markups within days of launch. The FIFA World Cup version has even more built-in appeal: it’s a limited global collab tied to the world’s most-watched sporting event, with mascot plushies from all three host countries.

What’s in the Happy Meal: Your choice of hamburger, 4-count McNuggets, or 6-count McNuggets, with fries, apple slices, a drink, and one of 23 collectible plush toys. The Squishmallows lineup features FIFA mascots from the three host countries — Maple the Moose for Canada, Zayu the Jaguar for Mexico, and Clutch the Bald Eagle for the U.S. — each dressed in special soccer jerseys with McDonald’s graphics.

The U.S. launch is June 9, though the rollout is already live in Australia and New Zealand, with global availability spreading through the summer.

Why This Is Bigger Than a Typical Happy Meal Collab

Squishmallows has been one of the most powerful Happy Meal platforms McDonald’s has ever used. The brand’s last collaboration — which featured 12 collectible designs — generated lines, social media posts, and immediate resale demand that went well beyond the traditional Happy Meal audience. Adult collectors are a significant driver of Squishmallows Happy Meal volume, and the FIFA World Cup twist adds a second layer of fandom on top.

For families with kids who are into soccer, this is an easy win. For collectors, June 9 might mean showing up early.

The Bottom Line

McDonald’s FIFA World Cup 26 adult meal — with nine collectible cups and returning Big Mac Sauce dip cups — launches at participating locations June 4. The Squishmallows FIFA World Cup 26 Happy Meal with 23 collectible plushies launches June 9. Both are limited time. The World Cup kicks off June 11.

Tip of the Day

“Always let your meat rest before slicing.”

Whether you're roasting a chicken, grilling steak, or baking pork tenderloin, letting cooked meat rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing allows the juices to redistribute evenly. This simple step keeps your meat juicy and tender, ensuring every bite is flavorful and moist. Bonus: It gives you a moment to plate your sides or garnish for a perfect presentation!

The Way We Ate: How Food Has Changed in One Generation

Research tracking American dietary patterns over the past fifty years consistently documents both significant improvements and significant concerns. The increase in variety — in the diversity of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains available and consumed — represents genuine nutritional progress. The concurrent increase in ultra-processed food consumption — foods engineered for palatability, shelf stability, and convenience rather than nutritional completeness — represents one of the most significant public health challenges of the era. The most consistent finding across this research is that the greatest determinant of dietary quality is the degree to which food is prepared from whole ingredients rather than purchased in processed form — making cooking from scratch one of the most significant health behaviors available, regardless of the specific cuisine or ingredients involved.

Slow Cooker Dump Dinners: Throw It In, Walk Away, Eat Like a Hero

Slow-cooked proteins like beef, pork, and chicken retain significantly more moisture and require less added fat than high-heat cooking methods, making braised and slow-cooked meals a naturally leaner option without sacrificing satisfaction. The low, sustained heat of a slow cooker also preserves heat-sensitive B vitamins in meat more effectively than roasting or grilling at high temperatures. Legumes like white beans and black beans — staples in many dump dinner recipes — are among the most nutrient-dense foods available, delivering substantial fiber, plant-based protein, iron, and folate in a single serving. The instinct to build a meal around beans and a modest amount of protein is not just a budget decision — it is, nutritionally, one of the most efficient ways to eat well on a weekday.
