Lemon Crumb Bars

Healthy Fact of the Day

Lemons are packed with vitamin C and citric acid, which can help boost immunity and aid in iron absorption. The fresh lemon juice in these bars provides natural acidity that enhances flavor while adding nutritional benefits.

These Lemon Crumb Bars bring bright, citrusy sunshine to your dessert table with layers of buttery shortbread crust, tangy lemon curd filling, and golden crumb topping. They’re baked until perfectly set and chilled to achieve that ideal firm texture—perfect for picnics, potlucks, or brightening up any ordinary day. Simple to make and absolutely irresistible.

If you love these bright citrus flavors, you’ll also enjoy our Key Lime Pie Bars with their tropical tartness and similar layered bar format. For another lemon-forward treat, try the Lemon Tiramisu with its creamy, citrusy elegance. Ingredients

    • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour

    • 0.5 cups granulated sugar

    • 0.5 cups unsalted butter, melted

    • 2 tablespoons cornstarch

    • 0.25 teaspoons salt

    • 1 zest of lemon

    • 1.5 cups condensed milk

    • 1/2 cups fresh lemon juice

    • 3 units large egg yolks

    Directions

    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving overhang on the sides for easy removal.
    • In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, melted butter, cornstarch, salt, and lemon zest. Mix until uniform crumbs form and the mixture holds together when pressed.
    • Press two-thirds of the crumb mixture into the prepared baking pan, creating an even layer at the bottom. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until lightly golden.
    • Meanwhile, in another bowl, whisk together condensed milk, lemon juice, and egg yolks until well combined and smooth for the filling.
    • Pour the lemon filling over the partially baked crust, spreading evenly. Sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture over the top of the lemon filling.
    • Return the pan to the oven and bake for about 25 minutes until the topping is golden brown and the filling is set.
    • Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours to firm up before slicing.

    Tip of the Day

“Always let your meat rest before slicing.”

Whether you're roasting a chicken, grilling steak, or baking pork tenderloin, letting cooked meat rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing allows the juices to redistribute evenly. This simple step keeps your meat juicy and tender, ensuring every bite is flavorful and moist. Bonus: It gives you a moment to plate your sides or garnish for a perfect presentation!
