Hamburger Steak in Creamy Dill Sauce

Healthy Fact of the Day

Swap ground beef for lean ground turkey or a plant-based alternative for a lighter option. Use low-fat sour cream and serve with steamed veggies or cauliflower mash for a balanced plate.

This Hamburger Steak in Creamy Dill Sauce elevates humble ground beef into a restaurant-worthy comfort meal that’s perfect for weeknight dinners. Juicy beef patties are seared to golden perfection, then simmered in a velvety sauce made with sour cream, fresh dill, and sautéed onions that creates the most luxurious gravy. The fresh herby twist of dill adds brightness to the rich, creamy sauce that coats every bite.

    Ingredients

    • 1 pound ground beef

    • 1 teaspoon salt

    • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper

    • 2 tablespoons butter

    • 1 small onion, diced

    • 2 cloves garlic, minced

    • 1 cup beef broth

    • 0.5 cup sour cream

    • 1 tablespoon dill, chopped

    • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

    • 1 tablespoon olive oil

    Directions

    • In a bowl, mix ground beef with salt and pepper, gently forming them into four round patties.
    • Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add olive oil, cooking the patties for about 5 minutes on each side.
    • Remove the patties from the skillet and set them aside, keeping them warm for later use.
    • In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté the onions and garlic until the onions are translucent.
    • Stir in flour with the onions and garlic, cooking for about one minute to get rid of the raw flour taste.
    • Gradually add the beef broth, stirring constantly, until the mixture is smooth and begins to thicken.
    • Reduce heat to low and mix in the sour cream and dill, simmering for an additional 2 minutes to blend flavors.
    • Return the hamburger steaks to the skillet, coating them with the creamy dill sauce, and heat through for about 5 minutes.

    Tip of the Day

“Always let your meat rest before slicing.”

Whether you're roasting a chicken, grilling steak, or baking pork tenderloin, letting cooked meat rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing allows the juices to redistribute evenly. This simple step keeps your meat juicy and tender, ensuring every bite is flavorful and moist. Bonus: It gives you a moment to plate your sides or garnish for a perfect presentation!

    Italian Rum Cake

Enjoying desserts with rich, complex flavors like rum-infused cakes can actually support mindful eating—the intense taste encourages you to slow down and savor each bite rather than rushing through. Dark rum contains trace minerals from molasses, and when used in baking, much of the alcohol evaporates during preparation, leaving behind deep caramel and vanilla notes that enhance the dessert experience.
