Butterscotch Bread Pudding

Healthy Fact of the Day

Butterscotch bread pudding is a rich and comforting dessert, perfect for indulging on special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 6 slices of day-old bread, cut into cubes
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup butterscotch chips (optional)
  • Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter. Stir in the brown sugar until it’s dissolved and the mixture is smooth.

  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, pure vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt.

  4. Gradually add the butter and brown sugar mixture to the egg mixture, whisking constantly to combine.

  5. Place the bread cubes in a greased 9×9-inch baking dish. If desired, sprinkle butterscotch chips over the bread.

  6. Pour the egg and sugar mixture over the bread, ensuring all the bread is soaked. Press down gently to submerge the bread.

  7. Let the mixture sit for about 10 minutes to allow the bread to absorb the custard.

  8. Bake in the preheated oven for about 35-45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.

  9. Remove the butterscotch bread pudding from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.

  10. Serve your Butterscotch Bread Pudding warm.

  11. Top with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra indulgent treat if desired.

Enjoy the rich and decadent flavors of Butterscotch Bread Pudding, a perfect dessert for those moments when you want to indulge.

Tip of the Day

“Always let your meat rest before slicing.”

Whether you're roasting a chicken, grilling steak, or baking pork tenderloin, letting cooked meat rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing allows the juices to redistribute evenly. This simple step keeps your meat juicy and tender, ensuring every bite is flavorful and moist. Bonus: It gives you a moment to plate your sides or garnish for a perfect presentation!
