Turkey Club

Healthy Fact of the Day

The Turkey Club sandwich offers a mix of nutrients but is also high in calories. Turkey provides lean protein, essential for muscle health and satiety. Avocado contributes heart-healthy monounsaturated fats and fiber. Tomatoes offer vitamin C and lycopene. To make it healthier, use whole grain bread for added fiber and nutrients. Consider turkey bacon or omit bacon to reduce saturated fat and sodium. Use mashed avocado as a spread instead of mayonnaise to boost nutrition and reduce calories. Adding extra vegetables like cucumber or sprouts can increase the fiber and nutrient content. While delicious, this sandwich is calorie-dense, so be mindful of portion sizes. Pairing half a sandwich with a side salad can create a more balanced meal.

Ingredients

  • 12 slices white or whole wheat bread, toasted
  • 1 lb sliced roasted turkey breast
  • 8 slices cooked bacon
  • 1 large ripe tomato, sliced
  • 1 ripe avocado, sliced
  • 4 leaves of crisp lettuce (iceberg or romaine)
  • 4 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 2 tsp Dijon mustard
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 4 toothpicks or sandwich picks

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise and Dijon mustard.

  2. Lay out 12 pieces of toasted bread on a clean work surface.

  3. Spread the mayo-mustard mixture on one side of each bread slice.

  4. On 4 slices of bread, layer turkey, tomato, and season with salt and pepper.

  5. Top each with another slice of bread.

  6. On top of these slices, add bacon, avocado, and lettuce.

  7. Cover with the remaining 4 slices of bread, mayo side down.

  8. Gently press down on each sandwich.

  9. Cut each sandwich diagonally into quarters.

  10. Secure each quarter with a toothpick.

  11. Serve immediately.

Tip of the Day

“Always let your meat rest before slicing.”

Whether you're roasting a chicken, grilling steak, or baking pork tenderloin, letting cooked meat rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing allows the juices to redistribute evenly. This simple step keeps your meat juicy and tender, ensuring every bite is flavorful and moist. Bonus: It gives you a moment to plate your sides or garnish for a perfect presentation!
