Everything You Need to Know About Aldi’s Spring German Week

Healthy Fact of the Day

German Week at Aldi is a great opportunity to pick up some genuinely nutritious pantry staples alongside the indulgent treats. Tinned herring fillets are one of the most underrated health foods in the store — high in omega-3 fatty acids, protein, and vitamin D at a fraction of the cost of fresh fish. Spaetzle paired with schnitzel makes a satisfying, protein-forward dinner, and red cabbage with apples is a fiber-rich side dish that supports gut health. Shop the event for the cookies and strudel, but don't overlook the items that can genuinely round out a balanced weekly meal plan.

One of Aldi’s most anticipated annual events kicked off yesterday, and shoppers know better than to wait.

Aldi’s spring 2026 German Week began yesterday, April 29, bringing 18 new Deutsche Küche products to stores nationwide for a limited time. The Deutsche Küche brand — which translates to “German Kitchen” and is sold exclusively at Aldi in the U.S. — covers everything from imported schnitzel and spaetzle to tinned fish, chocolate cookies, and strudel, all priced between $1.69 and $9.99.

These are Aldi Finds, which means once they’re gone, they’re gone. Shop early.

What’s New This Year

Spring 2026 German Week introduces several items that haven’t appeared in previous runs, alongside returning fan favorites that shoppers have been waiting for since the December 2025 edition.

Fruits of the Forest Strudel — A frozen pastry filled with cooked apples and mixed berries that works as a breakfast pastry or a quick dessert with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. New this year.

Spinach & Ricotta Strudel ($4.49) — A savory strudel option for a change of pace from the sweet variety. Also new.

Garlic Sage Spaetzle — The buttery, herb-forward version of Aldi’s beloved German egg noodle is back. A second Cheese Spaetzle variety — described as German-style mac and cheese with mozzarella and raclette — is also available this year.

Peanut Puffs — New this spring: airy, crisp corn puffs flavored with finely ground peanuts, in the same snack-size category as the popular Potato Sticks.

Doppelino Sandwich Biscuits — A new line of sandwich cookies available in hazelnut, chocolate, or speculoos flavors. A companion product, the Doppel Keks Sandwich Cookies with chocolate cream filling, is also joining shelves.

Herring Fillets ($1.99) — Wild-caught herring in your choice of mango pepper cream, curry pineapple cream, or tomato sauce. Aldi’s tinned fish offering continues to be one of the best value pantry items in the entire German Week lineup.

Returning Favorites Worth Grabbing

Several items have developed cult followings through previous German Week editions and are back for another run.

Pork and Chicken Schnitzel ($9.99) — Consistently one of the top sellers of the event. Bread-crumb-coated, oven-ready schnitzel at a fraction of what you’d pay at a German restaurant.

Harvest Potato Soup — One of the most obsessed-over items in Aldi’s German Week history. Reddit threads have documented shoppers stocking up multiple cans at a time. It’s back — grab more than one.

Soft Pretzels — A staple of every German Week that needs no explanation.

Red Cabbage with Apples ($2.69) — A versatile, shelf-stable side dish that pairs well with schnitzel or as a condiment alongside grilled meats.

Spritz Shortbread Cookies — Available in almond, coconut, and vanilla. A reliable German Week return.

Cornichons — Available in chili or garlic-infused variations. A pantry staple at a price that makes it easy to stock up.

Dark Chocolate Wafers and Chocolate Wafer Rolls — Both featuring hazelnut creme filling and available in dark and milk chocolate versions.

Potato Sticks ($1.79) — Available in hash brown style and herbed. One of the best snack values in the store this week.

How to Order

All German Week products are available in-store starting today. Curbside pickup and same-day delivery are also available through Aldi’s website and app. Given how quickly these products sell out — particularly schnitzel, Harvest Potato Soup, and the strudels — in-store shopping earlier in the week is always the safer bet.

The Bottom Line

Aldi’s spring 2026 German Week is live today, April 29, with 18 new Deutsche Küche items hitting stores nationwide. The event runs through May 5 or while supplies last. Prices range from $1.69 to $9.99. Whether you’re a schnitzel loyalist, a Harvest Potato Soup devotee, or just curious about tinned herring at $1.99, this is the week to show up to Aldi with a plan.

Tip of the Day

“Always let your meat rest before slicing.”

Whether you're roasting a chicken, grilling steak, or baking pork tenderloin, letting cooked meat rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing allows the juices to redistribute evenly. This simple step keeps your meat juicy and tender, ensuring every bite is flavorful and moist. Bonus: It gives you a moment to plate your sides or garnish for a perfect presentation!

Denny’s Just Threw Out the Rulebook — Pancakes at Midnight, Steak at 2 PM, No Questions Asked

An all-day menu with no mealtime restrictions is a fun concept — and it can actually work in your favor nutritionally if you use it wisely. Ordering a breakfast plate like eggs, bacon, and hash browns for dinner is often a lighter choice than a burger or steak, since traditional breakfast items tend to be lower in overall calories. The Country Fried Steak & Eggs and Moons Over My Hammy are both protein-forward options that can serve as a satisfying dinner without the heavier calorie load of the burger lineup. If you’re drawn to the Strawberry Cheesecake Scoop Slam, consider sharing it — the dessert-on-pancakes concept is genuinely indulgent, and splitting it with someone lets you enjoy the experience without the full calorie commitment.

The Food of Celebration: What We Eat When It Matters Most

Fresh summer berries — the strawberries, blueberries, and cherries that fill the most iconic Fourth of July pies and desserts — are among the most antioxidant-dense foods available in any season. Blueberries in particular contain some of the highest concentrations of anthocyanins of any commonly consumed fruit, with peak-season fresh blueberries delivering measurably higher levels of these antioxidants than frozen or out-of-season alternatives. The tradition of the summer berry pie is, nutritionally, one of the more defensible dessert traditions available — particularly when made with a filling that allows the fruit’s natural flavor to be the primary pleasure rather than masking it with excessive sugar.

Grilled Hot Honey Chicken

Honey is a natural sweetener that provides trace amounts of antioxidants and antimicrobial compounds, and its natural sugars caramelize beautifully on the grill without requiring any refined sugar additions. Using apple cider vinegar in the marinade not only adds brightness but provides acetic acid, which research suggests may support blood sugar regulation—making this bold, indulgent-tasting glaze more nutritionally interesting than it appears.
