Ingredients

 

 

  • 2 cups cooked turkey, shredded or diced
  • 1/2 cup green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup red bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas
  • 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Cooked rice for serving
  • Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

 

Instructions

 

  1. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.

  2. Add the chopped green bell pepper, red bell pepper, and onion to the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are softened.

  3. Stir in the flour and cook for an additional 2 minutes, stirring constantly to make a roux.

  4. Gradually whisk in the chicken broth and milk, ensuring there are no lumps. Cook until the mixture thickens.

  5. Add the shredded or diced turkey, frozen peas, sliced mushrooms, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper to the skillet. Stir to combine.

  6. Simmer the mixture for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the vegetables to cook through.

  7. Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed.

  8. Serve your Turkey à la King over cooked rice.

  9. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
