    Ingredients

    • 1 pound ground beef

    • 0.5 cup breadcrumbs

    • 1 large egg

    • 2 cloves garlic, minced

    • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

    • 2 tablespoons olive oil

    • 4 cups mashed potatoes

    • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

    • 0.5 teaspoon salt

    • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper

    Directions

    • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking dish with olive oil. Set aside for later use.
    • In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
    • Form the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them evenly in the prepared baking dish.
    • Drizzle olive oil over the meatballs and bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes to partially cook the meatballs.
    • While meatballs are baking, prepare the mashed potatoes by reheating if necessary, adding a splash of milk for creaminess.
    • Remove the meatballs from the oven and spread the mashed potatoes evenly on top of the meatballs in the baking dish.
    • Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the mashed potato layer, covering the surface generously for a cheesy finish.
    • Return the dish to the oven and bake for another 20-25 minutes, or until cheese is golden and bubbly.
    • Allow the dish to cool slightly before serving, ensuring the internal temperature is safe for consumption.

    Tip of the Day

“Always let your meat rest before slicing.”

Whether you're roasting a chicken, grilling steak, or baking pork tenderloin, letting cooked meat rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing allows the juices to redistribute evenly. This simple step keeps your meat juicy and tender, ensuring every bite is flavorful and moist. Bonus: It gives you a moment to plate your sides or garnish for a perfect presentation!
