Refreshing Watermelon Sangria

Healthy Fact of the Day

Watermelon is over 90% water, making it a hydrating fruit perfect for hot summer days. It's also rich in vitamins A and C, as well as lycopene, an antioxidant that gives it its red color.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium watermelon, cubed (about 6 cups)
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) white wine (like Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio)
  • 1/2 cup white rum
  • 1/4 cup triple sec
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 cup honey or agave syrup
  • 1 lime, sliced
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • Fresh mint leaves
  • Sparkling water (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a blender, puree 4 cups of watermelon cubes until smooth.
  2. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve to remove pulp.
  3. In a large pitcher, combine the watermelon juice, white wine, rum, triple sec, lime juice, and honey. Stir until honey is dissolved.
  4. Add the remaining watermelon cubes, sliced lime, lemon, and orange to the pitcher.
  5. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight to allow flavors to meld.
  6. Before serving, add a handful of fresh mint leaves to the pitcher and stir gently.
  7. Serve over ice, garnishing each glass with additional fruit slices and mint leaves.
  8. For a sparkling twist, top each glass with a splash of sparkling water just before serving.

Raise a glass of this ruby-hued watermelon sangria and let its fruity, refreshing flavors transport you to a sun-drenched Mediterranean coastline. With every sip, you’ll taste the essence of summer – cool, sweet, and utterly irresistible. It’s not just a drink; it’s a vacation in a glass!

Tip of the Day

“Always let your meat rest before slicing.”

Whether you're roasting a chicken, grilling steak, or baking pork tenderloin, letting cooked meat rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing allows the juices to redistribute evenly. This simple step keeps your meat juicy and tender, ensuring every bite is flavorful and moist. Bonus: It gives you a moment to plate your sides or garnish for a perfect presentation!
