Creamy Apple Coleslaw

Healthy Fact of the Day

This apple coleslaw recipe incorporates a variety of colorful vegetables and fruits, providing a good source of dietary fiber, vitamin C, and antioxidants. The addition of apple adds a refreshing crunch and a touch of natural sweetness, making it a healthier alternative to traditional coleslaws that often rely heavily on mayonnaise.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups shredded green cabbage
  • 1 cup shredded red cabbage
  • 1 large carrot, grated
  • 1 Granny Smith apple, julienned
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard

  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the shredded green cabbage, red cabbage, grated carrot, julienned apple, and chopped red onion.

  2. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard, and honey to create the dressing.

  3. Pour the dressing over the cabbage mixture and toss until well combined, ensuring all ingredients are evenly coated.

  4. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.

  5. Chill the coleslaw in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.

Crunch into this delightful apple coleslaw and let the vibrant colors and tangy flavors take your taste buds on a crisp, refreshing adventure that’ll leave you wanting seconds (and maybe even thirds)!

Tip of the Day

“Always let your meat rest before slicing.”

Whether you're roasting a chicken, grilling steak, or baking pork tenderloin, letting cooked meat rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing allows the juices to redistribute evenly. This simple step keeps your meat juicy and tender, ensuring every bite is flavorful and moist. Bonus: It gives you a moment to plate your sides or garnish for a perfect presentation!

If you love a dessert-inspired creamer like this one, try pairing it with a simple black cold brew rather than an already-sweet coffee drink to let the flavor shine without doubling up on sugar.

Understanding menu design can help diners make more intentional choices — recognizing when attention is being directed toward high-margin, often less nutritious options and actively looking further down the page for dishes that better reflect their dietary goals.
