Ingredients

For the Ricotta Filling:
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Other Ingredients:
- 12 lasagna noodles, cooked according to package instructions
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded (for topping)

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

In a large skillet, brown the ground beef or turkey over medium-high heat. Drain any excess fat.

Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the onion is softened.

Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, water, dried oregano, dried basil, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Simmer the meat sauce for 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, chopped fresh parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.

Assemble the lasagna in the prepared baking dish: Start with a layer of meat sauce, followed by a layer of cooked lasagna noodles, and then a layer of the ricotta filling. Repeat until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of meat sauce on top.
