Spiced Maple Bourbon Fizz

Healthy Fact of the Day

While this Spiced Maple Bourbon Fizz is a delightful cocktail, it should be consumed in moderation as part of a balanced lifestyle. Maple syrup, while still a form of sugar, contains some minerals like manganese and zinc. Lemon juice provides a small amount of vitamin C. The spices used, such as cinnamon and nutmeg, have antioxidant properties. However, it's important to note that alcohol should always be consumed responsibly and in moderation. If you're looking for a non-alcoholic version, you could replace the bourbon with apple cider or additional ginger beer for a spiced mocktail. Remember, hydration is key, so it's a good idea to alternate alcoholic drinks with water.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz bourbon whiskey
  • 1 oz pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • 1/4 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • Ice cubes
  • 2-3 oz chilled ginger beer
  • Cinnamon stick for garnish
  • Apple slice for garnish
  • Star anise for garnish (optional)

For the spiced sugar rim:

  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. In a small plate, mix granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg for the spiced sugar rim.

  2. Rub the rim of a rocks glass with a lemon wedge and dip in the spiced sugar mixture to coat.

  3. In a cocktail shaker, combine bourbon, maple syrup, lemon juice, bitters, and pumpkin pie spice.

  4. Fill the shaker with ice cubes.

  5. Shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds until well chilled.

  6. Fill the prepared rocks glass with fresh ice cubes.

  7. Strain the cocktail mixture into the glass over the ice.

  8. Top with chilled ginger beer.

  9. Gently stir to combine.

  10. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and an apple slice.

  11. If desired, float a star anise on top for added aroma and presentation.

  12. Serve immediately and enjoy responsibly.

Tip of the Day

“Always let your meat rest before slicing.”

Whether you're roasting a chicken, grilling steak, or baking pork tenderloin, letting cooked meat rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing allows the juices to redistribute evenly. This simple step keeps your meat juicy and tender, ensuring every bite is flavorful and moist. Bonus: It gives you a moment to plate your sides or garnish for a perfect presentation!
