Herb & Garlic Swirl Rolls

Herb & Garlic Swirl Rolls

Healthy Fact of the Day

Use whole wheat flour for a fiber boost and reduce butter slightly to make these rolls lighter. Fresh herbs provide antioxidants and elevate the flavor naturally.

Ingredients

  • Dough:

    • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast (1 packet)
    • 1 tsp salt
    • 1 tbsp sugar
    • 1 cup warm milk (110°F/43°C)
    • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
    • 1 large egg

  • Filling:

    • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 3 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
    • 1 tbsp fresh rosemary, chopped
    • 1 tsp dried oregano
    • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

  • Topping (Optional):

    • 2 tbsp melted butter
    • Extra herbs or grated Parmesan for garnish

       Instructions
  1. Prepare Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, yeast, salt, and sugar. Add warm milk, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use a stand mixer with a dough hook.

  2. Let Dough Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1-1.5 hours or until doubled in size.

  3. Prepare Filling: Mix softened butter, garlic, parsley, rosemary, oregano, and Parmesan (if using) in a small bowl.

  4. Roll Out Dough: Punch down the dough and roll it into a large rectangle (approximately 12×18 inches). Spread the herb and garlic butter evenly over the surface.

  5. Roll and Slice: Roll the dough tightly from one long edge to the other to form a log. Slice into 12 even pieces and place them in a greased baking dish or on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

  6. Second Rise: Cover the rolls with a clean towel and let them rise for 30-40 minutes until puffed.

  7. Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the rolls for 18-22 minutes or until golden brown.

  8. Optional Topping: Brush warm rolls with melted butter and sprinkle with extra herbs or Parmesan.

  9. Serve: Enjoy warm as a side dish or snack.

These Herb & Garlic Swirl Rolls are the perfect combination of soft, fluffy dough and aromatic, buttery filling. They’re great for dinner rolls, party appetizers, or a savory treat to share with friends and family. Bake a batch and let the delightful aroma fill your kitchen!

Tip of the Day

“Always let your meat rest before slicing.”

Whether you're roasting a chicken, grilling steak, or baking pork tenderloin, letting cooked meat rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing allows the juices to redistribute evenly. This simple step keeps your meat juicy and tender, ensuring every bite is flavorful and moist. Bonus: It gives you a moment to plate your sides or garnish for a perfect presentation!
