    Ingredients

    • 3 cups all-purpose flour

    • 1 tbsp baking powder

    • 1 tsp salt

    • 1 tsp garlic powder

    • 0.5 tsp dried oregano

    • 0.5 tsp dried thyme

    • 2 tbsp sugar

    • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

    • 1 medium jalapeño, finely chopped

    • 12 oz beer

    • 3 tbsp melted butter

    Directions

    • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan with cooking spray.
    • In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, oregano, thyme, and sugar. Mix well using a whisk.
    • Add shredded cheddar cheese and chopped jalapeño into the dry mixture and stir until they are evenly distributed.
    • Pour the beer into the bowl with the dry ingredients and stir until just combined, being careful not to over-mix.
    • Transfer the dough into the prepared loaf pan, spreading it out evenly with a spatula.
    • Drizzle the melted butter over the top of the dough, ensuring it covers the entire surface for a nice crust.
    • Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
    • Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

    Tip of the Day

“Always let your meat rest before slicing.”

Whether you're roasting a chicken, grilling steak, or baking pork tenderloin, letting cooked meat rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing allows the juices to redistribute evenly. This simple step keeps your meat juicy and tender, ensuring every bite is flavorful and moist. Bonus: It gives you a moment to plate your sides or garnish for a perfect presentation!

Culver’s Is Testing a New Parmesan Burger — And Fans Are Already Willing to Drive for It

One genuinely interesting detail about the Buttery Parmesan Pub Burger is the salad blend base — mixed greens instead of standard iceberg lettuce. While it seems like a small detail, mixed greens provide significantly more vitamins and antioxidants than iceberg, which is largely water. If you’re watching your overall intake, opting for the grilled chicken version over the beef patty saves meaningful calories and saturated fat while keeping all the same Parmesan crisps and sauce that reviewers are raving about. Asking for light mayo is another easy swap that reduces calories without losing the creamy texture in the build.

The Food Scientist’s Guide to a Better Home Kitchen

Understanding the science of cooking temperatures and protein denaturation has direct nutritional implications: cooking proteins at lower temperatures for longer periods — as in poaching, sous vide preparation, and gentle braising — preserves significantly more of the heat-sensitive B vitamins, particularly thiamine and B6, than high-heat cooking methods. The same scientific principles that produce better texture in gently cooked proteins also produce better nutritional retention — making the food science of low-temperature cooking a nutritional consideration as much as a culinary one.

    Pork Belly Tacos

While pork belly is undeniably rich, it provides high-quality protein and contains monounsaturated fats similar to those in olive oil. The key to enjoying it is portion control and balance—a few slices of pork belly with plenty of fresh vegetables and citrus creates a satisfying meal. The orange juice marinade adds vitamin C while helping tenderize the meat.
