Patriotic Red, White, and Blue Popsicles

Healthy Fact of the Day

These popsicles are a healthier alternative to store-bought varieties. They're made with fresh fruit and yogurt, providing vitamins, antioxidants, and probiotics. The natural sweetness comes primarily from the fruit, with just a touch of added honey.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1 cup vanilla yogurt
  • 2 tbsp honey, divided
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. For the red layer: Blend strawberries with 1 tbsp honey until smooth. Set aside.

  2. For the blue layer: Blend blueberries with 1 tbsp honey and water until smooth. Set aside.

  3. For the white layer: Stir vanilla yogurt until creamy.

  4. To assemble:

    • Pour the strawberry puree into popsicle molds, filling about 1/3 of each mold.

    • Freeze for about 30 minutes until slightly firm.

    • Add a layer of vanilla yogurt, filling another 1/3 of each mold.

    • Freeze for another 30 minutes.

    • Top with the blueberry puree, filling to the top of the molds.

    • Insert popsicle sticks and freeze for at least 4 hours or overnight.

    • To serve, run the molds briefly under warm water to release the popsicles.

Celebrate summer and show your patriotic spirit with these vibrant red, white, and blue popsicles! Each cool, fruity layer is a refreshing salute to Old Glory, perfect for Fourth of July festivities or any day you want to add a splash of star-spangled sweetness to your snack time!

Tip of the Day

“Always let your meat rest before slicing.”

Whether you're roasting a chicken, grilling steak, or baking pork tenderloin, letting cooked meat rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing allows the juices to redistribute evenly. This simple step keeps your meat juicy and tender, ensuring every bite is flavorful and moist. Bonus: It gives you a moment to plate your sides or garnish for a perfect presentation!

When adding heat to a meal, jalapeños are actually a surprisingly nutritious choice — they’re low in calories and contain capsaicin, a compound that may support metabolism and reduce inflammation. If you’re building a spicier fast food order, pairing a jalapeño-topped item with water instead of a sugary drink is an easy way to keep the meal more balanced while still enjoying the heat. And if you end up ordering the Cookie Dough Frosty Fusion, opting for a small size is a great way to satisfy the craving without going overboard on calories.

One Can of Coconut Milk, Five Completely Different Uses

Canned coconut milk is higher in saturated fat than most plant-based milks, but a little goes a long way — and the payoff in flavor means you’re not reaching for butter or heavy cream to get the same richness. If you want a lighter option, look for “lite” coconut milk, which has significantly less fat and still works well in soups, rice, and chia pudding. For the whipped cream, though, you’ll want the full-fat version — lite won’t whip up the same way.
