Chocolate Trifle Cake

Healthy Fact of the Day

While this is definitely a dessert indulgence, dark chocolate provides antioxidants and may support heart health. To make slightly healthier, use low-fat milk in pudding and reduce sugar content. Consider using Greek yogurt in place of some mascarpone. Fresh berries add vitamins and antioxidants. For a lighter version, use angel food cake and sugar-free pudding. The protein from dairy helps make this more satisfying than many desserts. Consider small portions and sharing. This is a special occasion treat best enjoyed in moderation.

Ingredients

  • 1 chocolate cake (9×13), cubed
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 8 oz mascarpone cheese

Tip of the Day

“Always let your meat rest before slicing.”

Whether you're roasting a chicken, grilling steak, or baking pork tenderloin, letting cooked meat rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing allows the juices to redistribute evenly. This simple step keeps your meat juicy and tender, ensuring every bite is flavorful and moist. Bonus: It gives you a moment to plate your sides or garnish for a perfect presentation!

Korean BBQ Beef & Pickled Veggie Rice Bowls

Quick-pickled vegetables are among the most nutritionally effective additions to any grain bowl—the acetic acid in rice vinegar has been shown to improve insulin sensitivity, support gut microbiome diversity, and increase the bioavailability of the vegetables’ fat-soluble vitamins when paired with sesame oil’s fat content in the adjacent marinade. This is a bowl where the flavors and the nutrition are working in the same direction.

Roasted Strawberry Mascarpone Baked Oat Cups

Roasting strawberries concentrates their naturally occurring ellagic acid—a polyphenol antioxidant linked to anti-inflammatory and anti-carcinogenic properties—while simultaneously reducing their water content and intensifying their flavor. The mascarpone’s high fat content improves the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins present in the strawberry, making this not just a beautiful breakfast but a nutritionally synergistic one.
