1 lb ground pork
2 tbsp fish sauce
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 egg
1 cup panko breadcrumbs
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp ground black pepper
1 tbsp sugar
1 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
2 tbsp vegetable oil
Directions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it for later.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground pork, fish sauce, soy sauce, egg, panko breadcrumbs, minced garlic, black pepper, sugar, and half of the chopped cilantro.
- Mix the ingredients thoroughly using your hands or a spatula until all the ingredients are well integrated and form a cohesive mixture.
- Shape the mixture into 1-inch meatballs using your hands. Place each meatball on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they are evenly spaced.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add meatballs in batches so as not to overcrowd the pan.
- Brown the meatballs on all sides, turning them with tongs or a spatula, until evenly browned, approximately 5 minutes.
- Transfer browned meatballs to the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes or until cooked through.
- Serve the meatballs hot, garnished with the remaining cilantro. Enjoy them on their own or in a sandwich for a delicious banh mi experience.
